Amela Thrane: A Journey of Healing and Transformation
Amela Thrane has over 15 years of experience helping and supporting individuals, couples, and groups. Through profound and unique processes that define Amela’s approach, it becomes possible to transition from coping with inappropriate patterns to living in alignment with life, vitality, love, and purpose.
At 53 years old, Amela resides in Copenhagen with her husband, who is also a psychotherapist. Originally from Yugoslavia, she lived with her parents and brother. The year 1992 marked a pivotal moment for the young law student Amela, as she arrived in Denmark as a war refugee. She spent four years in a refugee camp, two of which were dedicated to volunteering as a primary school teacher under the supervision of the Danish Refugee Council. Subsequently, she pursued various education paths in pedagogy, psychology, teaching, coaching, and psychotherapy.
Today, Amela is a certified Integral Psychotherapist, Trauma Therapist, and Coach. Her work is influenced by extensive studies in fields such as Interpersonal Neurobiology, Trauma Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Parts Work, NARM, EFT, Bilateral Stimulation, SE, energy work, mindfulness, and meditation. Figures like Thomas Hübl, Bessel Van Der Kolk, Ken Wilber, Dan Siegel, Richard Schwartz, Caroline Myss, Gabor Maté, Niklas Thrane, and many more have been crucial sources of inspiration for Amela over the years. With over 20 years of experience, she is also an experienced meditation teacher, having participated in numerous retreats and workshops both in Denmark and abroad. Her greatest sources of relational learning and development are her marriage and being a mother to two wonderful young adult daughters and two equally wonderful young adult stepchildren.
Amela possesses a special talent for empathizing with others’ inner worlds, and her ability to delve deep and listen with a whole heart creates a safe space for development, transformation, and healing. She approaches her clients with an open mind, without hiding behind a professional facade – she is honest, transparent, and caring. She works intensively with individuals in her private practice in Copenhagen and internationally online. Alongside her partner Niklas Thrane, she offers couple-to-couple therapy and leads group sessions in Lucid Communication, a relational practice they developed together. For the past eight years, Amela has facilitated workshops, training sessions, and various ‘we-space’ practices (such as Circling and Lucid Communication) in Denmark and internationally.
Since 2015, Amela has been engaged in Thomas Hübl’s teachings and completed Timeless Wisdom Training 5 in 2019. She is a member of the Core Group, Inner Science Training Group, and Pocket Project. As a volunteer, she participated in two significant international projects: as an assistant trainee in the Corona Aid trauma prevention project and as a co-facilitator for Balkan Lab, The International Labs, Collective Trauma Healing. More information can be found on www.pocketproject.org.
From March 2022 to December 2023, Amela worked as a psychotherapist in the role of Assistant Trainee in the 2-year Global Timeless Wisdom Training (GTWT) led by Thomas Hubl. She regularly receives supervision, both individually and in groups, and participates in intervision as an active member of several smaller and larger training groups and teams. She immerses herself daily in spiritual books, meditation, and inner work.
The School of Healing Arts (www.skolenforhelingskunst.dk), led by Niklas Thrane, is a specialist training in trauma therapy. The 1-year postgraduate program in trauma therapy provides the most effective tools and knowledge for sustainable healing. Amela serves as both an advisory board member and assistant in the school’s training sessions.
Amela is a devoted mother, artist, and engages daily in various modalities of intuitive healing.
